Woodpeckers Remote Learning
Welcome to the Woodpecker's Home learning page. Here you will find the weekly update which informs you of the work to be completed each week and the relevant downloads you will need. There will also be links to external websites, which will hopefully make accessing them easier. Please continue to use Seesaw to upload your children's work so we can read and respond to it. Many thanks for your continued support.

Maths Learn it League
Some parents have asked about continuing maths fluency at home, and the simplest way to do this would be to continue practicing the Learn it League. This is NOT compulsory! If you do want to practice some fluency with your child, have a look through the level descriptors together and try to locate their current level, then practice that skill until your child seems confident. You can then give them a little test if you would like to, and then move onto the next level.
I have also included the '20 ways to help your child with maths fluency' document which was sent home in September if you would like to practice fluency in a less formal way.

Hello lovely Woodpeckers, it was brilliant to see so many of you at our celebration assembly this week. Although we might not all be in school together, we are always thinking of you and looking forward to when we will be back together as a class. In MONDAY'S CLASS ASSEMBLY, we will be doing a book scavenger hunt, and would love it if you could bring along your favourite or current reading book. We look forward to catching up with you all.
Well done to everyone who made a wonderful start to their Chinese folk tales, I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the stories over the coming week. Remember to follow the daily instructions which will really help you to know what you should include and improve your writing.
Please click on the home-learning link below to find everything you need for another week of remote learning. We look forward to seeing your wonderful work. Take care and stay safe.
Love Mrs Allen and Mrs Quill.

Science
This week in science, we are going to take a look at how animals have adapted to live in different environments. Work through the PowerPoint to discover how the polar bear has adapted to living in such cold climates. Then choose another polar animal to research, and create a poster to show how it has adapted to living in its habitat.

PSHE
This week the PSHE focus is ‘We are a jigsaw’. In this lesson, you will be able to recognise the different groups that make up and contribute to a community. You will fill in your own jigsaw, piecing together at least 6 communities or groups which contribute to your town.

Feel free to use the jigsaw template below:
Art:
This week I would like you get creative with some Chinese Art. I would like you to investigate the characters of the12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac using the presentation saved below. I would then like you to choose your favourite animal (this could be the one from the year you were born or just one that you like) and carefully write the Chinese character of that animal. Try to do it fairly thickly so you can colour it in black. Once you have written the character I would like you to decorate the rest of the page with pictures of that animal. You could add in that animals favourite food, what it likes to do (e.g. if you were doing a monkey you could dd a banana and some trees) or even research the character traits of that animal and write those in too. 玩得开心 (Guess what that means?!)
Week commencing 18th January 2021
Hello again Woodpeckers, and welcome to another week of home learning. We are so impressed with your engagement in your activities, a huge well done to you AND your grown ups!
Below is the link to all the websites and worksheets that you will need for the following week.
As we said last week, although the maths and English lessons should be done in sequence, the other lessons can be done in any order. That is why we upload everything over the weekend to allow you and your grown ups to work through everything at your own pace and in your own routine.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the woodpeckers teacher email address.
Have a great week Woodpeckers!

Click on the icon below for this week's lesson. This week the PSHE focus is ‘I roll with my role’. In this lesson, you will explore the roles and responsibilities that you, as a citizen, have in your community. You will then create a video that outlines your role, alongside the main responsibilities you have. Follow the link below and the instructions from the video journal. We can’t wait to see your videos.
French
This week I would like you to follow the links to have some fun with French vocabulary- I wonder if anyone can learn the dance as well as the words to the song in the first link below?!

Hello and welcome back to another week of learning. We were both really impressed with how some of you have already engaged and have really enjoyed reading your work. Keep it up Woodpeckers! A big thank you must also go to our parents who have done a super job in supporting their children throughout the week. It is very much appreciated and makes such a difference. Remember that we are having our first virtual class assembly this week. We really hope you all can make it, it will be so lovely to see you. We will also be having our first whole school Assembly on Friday. Click on the Assembly icons to access your invites.

Maths for the Rainbow Group
This week I would like you to investigate the 5 times table, followed by the inverse of multiplying by 2,5 and 10: dividing by them! Follow the video tutorials (links below) and then have a go at the worksheets either independently or with support from a grown up.
On Friday, I have made an Education city Classwork city for you to get on with, you just need to login with your Ed City password and find the city called Maths times tables 2, 5, 10.
Only do the questions that you can do, you do not have to complete both pages of the sheet, some of the later questions are very tricky! You can ask a grown up to mark your work using the answer sheet, then have another look at any questions answered incorrectly. I look forward to seeing your work on Seesaw!
