Woodpeckers Closure Activities

Hello lovely Woodpeckers, welcome to our on-line learning page. At the moment, you might be very excited about spending time at home with your families, but you will soon find that you need activities to keep you entertained. We will be adding activities to our school web-page, and today some of you were given logins to a new on-line platform called SeeSaw, where there will be additional activities and the chance to share your work with us. (For those of you not with us today, your logins can be picked up at school between 10:00 and 4:30pm on Tuesday or 10:00 and 12:00pm on Wednesday)

Please bear with us in the coming days, as this is all very new and  we are still learning. Hopefully we will be up and running soon.

Remember to keep reading, practising your tables using TT Rockstars and developing your mathematical skills with Prodigy. Stay safe everyone!

 Maths Week 1

This week, while Mrs Quill is still getting to grips with remote education(!) I am going to stick with fairly familiar territory for the children, and have saved their first lesson as a PDF below.

We have been learning about fractions for several weeks now, and this would have been the final week. The activities are designed for all the class to start at Learning to Explore, becoming more abstract as they go on, and presenting a greater challenge level for the children- I would not expect ALL children to complete ALL activities- please just allow them to lead you in this. Some children, particularly in year 3, will only feel able to complete up to Twist it, and that is to be expected! I would only expect some of our more confident year 4 children to complete everything.

As the weeks go on, I will be using resources and ideas from the many different mathematical platforms available to us at this strange time, so please bear with me!

Woodpeckers make me incredibly proud with their enthusiasm, courage and perseverance in mathematics, and I fervently hope that they will demonstrate these values to you whilst learning from home.
